01
Start with a business question, not an AI score
Choose a question a customer asks before buying: which service fits, what it costs, where you operate, or what evidence supports your offer. Record the exact query, market and date before trying to improve mentions.
MentionOS describes an agent for answer-engine optimisation. Its product claims are a description of the service, not proof that a business will earn citations or leads. Google’s AI search guidance still centres on accessible, helpful content and the usual search essentials.
02
Prepare the website and establish a baseline
List the pages that answer each buyer question. Check that the important pages load, use a stable canonical, can be indexed, and describe the business accurately. An AI visibility report cannot repair an unclear offer by itself.
Save a dated baseline of Search Console queries and page performance. If checking AI responses, preserve the prompt, location and visible citations; answers can vary. Compare repeated observations rather than one screenshot.
03
Run an audit before authorising changes
Use the audit to assemble a change list: missing service detail, unsupported claims, weak internal links or unclear answers. Validate each finding against the actual page and source evidence. Group duplicate findings under one accountable page.
For publishing access, agree which account, URLs and content types the agent may change. Keep human review for claims, credentials, prices and customer proof. MentionOS terms describe probabilistic output and require proper authority for actions taken on connected systems.
04
Approve a small, reversible publishing test
Start with one page whose purpose and call to action are already clear. Review the draft against your real service scope, preserve a revision, publish, then check its rendered content, canonical and internal links.
A mention count is a visibility observation. It is not a sale or a guarantee of future rankings. Track useful next steps such as a service enquiry, a completed brief or a booked conversation; separate staff tests and spam.
05
Decide whether the workflow is worth continuing
Review the vendor’s current plan, permissions and cancellation terms directly before purchase. This guide does not quote a fixed price because offers and access can change.
If the audit exposes missing website fundamentals, fix those first. A focused service page with credible proof and an easy enquiry path is a better starting point than repeated automated articles with no customer purpose.
