01
Choose a bounded research task
A useful brief might compare how public competitor service pages explain scope, proof and contact actions. Define the allowed sites, fields and date of collection; avoid an open-ended request to copy competitors.
Olostep describes web retrieval capabilities including scraping and crawling. Retrieved page text is a research input. It does not grant permission to republish that text or establish that every claim on the page is true.
02
Set up API access safely
Create credentials in the authorised account and store them in the environment or secret manager used by the project. Keep keys out of article drafts, chat logs committed to a repository and browser-delivered code.
Follow the current welcome and API documentation for request format and quotas. Test a single public URL first and inspect the returned content. If it is a login page, error page or incomplete render, do not treat it as a successful source.
03
Add a coding-agent integration deliberately
Use the documented agent integration for the environment you actually operate. Limit what the agent can retrieve and where its output is stored. Review permissions before adding a connector or executing generated commands.
Retain the original URL, retrieval date and useful excerpt with each finding. Ask the agent to distinguish observed content from inferred recommendations. A synthesis without sources is not ready for publication.
04
Convert research into original work
Compare customer questions, content gaps and evidence patterns rather than reproducing page sections. Write your own explanation grounded in the actual business and what it can deliver.
Check material facts against the primary source before publishing. Avoid collecting sensitive information or accessing restricted pages without authorisation. Respect access restrictions, site terms and applicable rules for your task.
05
Review cost and evidence quality
Consult the current pricing page for the plan and request model you need. Estimate the bounded task first and monitor actual usage; this guide does not freeze vendor quotas or prices.
Judge the workflow by whether it improves a website decision and creates traceable evidence. More retrieved pages are not inherently better, and research tooling does not replace a credible offer or a working enquiry journey.
